Hi! My name is Clarissa Cheong and I have been with Clarity Psychology since 2016.

I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and specialise in psycho-educational assessments. I enjoy working with all ages (5+) and diverse backgrounds. I would be happy to answer any questions or inquiries you have. Feel free to contact me directly at clarissa(at)claritypsychology.ca.

Education and Credentials:

  • Registered Psychologist (#5662) with the College of Alberta Psychologists
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree with Distinction from the University of Guelph - Guelph, Ontario
  • Master of Education Degree in School and Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Alberta – Edmonton, Alberta

Background / Experience:

I am currently in the process of completing my PhD in the School and Clinical Child Psychology (SCCP) program at the University of Alberta. My training focuses on providing comprehensive assessment and evidence-based intervention to children, youth, and families. I have gained rich experience in school and clinical settings within the Edmonton area. While I specialize in working with children, youth, and families, I also enjoy working with adults. I work with my clients throughout the assessment process to ensure I answer questions and address any concerns. My goal is to provide meaningful assessment services that provide clarity and initiate positive change for individuals and families.

I also have experience in counselling and enjoy providing services to children, adolescents, families, and adults. I am not currently accepting counselling clients, but plan to offer services in the future.

Aside from my practical experience, I enjoy other aspects of our profession. I have been an active researcher and have had the opportunity to work with wonderful supervisors and organizations in the Edmonton area. I have presented at national/international conferences and published articles in academic journals. I am currently partnering with the Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre to complete my dissertation research. My research interests include the following topics and populations: parenting, stress, resilience, and vulnerable populations. I have also enjoyed teaching courses and supervising graduate students through their practicum at the University of Alberta.

About Me:

I have developed a passion for working with people and genuinely love my job. I enjoy getting to know my clients and appreciate the stories and experiences that are shared with me. I find it fascinating that everyone is unique and has their own set of strengths and challenges. It has been so rewarding to work with a diverse range of clients and to provide support to individuals and families.

In terms of my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, travelling, listening/ playing music, and all things food! I have a young family with two little ones that keep us busy. My spare time is consumed by parenting and trying to stay present with my family, as our children grow so quickly. Becoming a parent has been a beautiful, humbling, challenging, and life changing experience. I believe it has offered me an empathetic perspective to working with children and families.
