Clarity Kids - British Columbia

In partnership with Sea to Sky Pediatrics (www.seatoskypediatrics.ca), Clarity Kids Health Group will be offering our comprehensive psychoeducational assessment package to clients in the lower mainland.

What is a psychoeducational assessment?

A psychoeducational assessment is an evaluation of both strengths and weaknesses across a variety of areas (e.g., cognition, academics, mental health) that is generally meant to help support children and adolescents in school.

Psychoeducational assessments are a powerful tool for understanding and addressing the factors that can hold children and adolescents back from reaching their full potential in school. While they are often used to uncover learning challenges, their scope goes beyond academics. These assessments can shed light on behavioural, social, and emotional obstacles that may also hinder success. Ultimately, their purpose is to create supportive learning environments and foster overall well-being, helping young people thrive both in and out of the classroom.

What is included in our comprehensive assessment package?

  • Cognitive (e.g., WISC-V)

How do our assessments work?

Clarity Psychology BC offers hybrid assessments. We use a combination of in-person testing with our highly trained
psychometrists and virtual interviews and information collection by a Registered Psychologist.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cost for a comprehensive psychoeducational assessment is $3500. We do not charge GST. We take a $500 non-refundable payment at the time of booking. We will then require the remainder of the payment ($3000) once the testing is completed. In most cases, our office manager will send an email link to collect payment, which is generally done using credit card, on the Monday after the assessment is completed. Payment is due upon receipt. We will not release the final report until payment has been collected.

Once the assessment is completed, the assessor will compile all the information collected and complete a comprehensive report, which will include assessment results, diagnoses (based on DSM criteria), and valuable recommendations for those working with you, or your child.

We do not offer direct billing or work with insurance companies directly. We are not able to take responsibility if an insurance company does not offer full compensation for an assessment. If you are unsure what your insurance company will reimburse we are able to offer sample receipts, which you can submit to your insurance company in order to check coverage.

We will issue you a detailed receipt once all components of the assessment have been completed, which includes the debrief. Please note the time between initial payment of the assessment and the debrief date can be 3-5 weeks.

As our main office is located in Edmonton, Alberta and all of our current psychologists live and work in Edmonton we do not see our client’s in person.

We offer hybrid assessments. The initial interview is completed virtually with the Registered Psychologist who will be completing the assessment report. The testing component, which is conducted in-person with one of our highly-trained psychometrists, will be done at our North Vancouver location. Once the testing component is completed all test data will be shared with the Registered Psychologist, who will then complete the assessment report.

Once the assessment report is completed our office will schedule your debrief with the Registered Psychologist. The debrief will also be completed virtually. Once the debrief is completed our office will have the final report sent to you digitally using our secure portal.

The difference between how we complete assessments in BC and how they are typically conducted at our Edmonton office would be a brief interview with your child completed in person. It is industry standard at any larger assessment office to use psychometrists to complete testing and scoring and so, in most cases, the difference between a hybrid assessment and a more traditional assessment is minimal and would not impact the quality of the assessment.

Our psychometrists are highly trained and have psychology backgrounds. They have been trained to complete detailed behavioral observations during the assessment, which is incorporated into the assessment report.

As we are currently flying our psychometricians to Vancouver to complete the testing portion of the assessment it is critical that you let our office know as soon as possible if you are unable to make your appointment.

Our client care coordinator will follow-up with you the day before the assessment to ensure you are able to make the appointment.

If you are unable to make your appointment we will re-book you to our next available time slot, which may be several months after your scheduled appointment.

We typically have assessment reports completed 3-5 weeks after your scheduled testing date.

Please forward copies of all pertinent medical documents, IPP plans, SLP and OT reports, and any previous psychoeducational assessment to our secure portal
