Clarity Kids Multi-Disciplinary Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessments

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that is characterized by differences in (1) social communication and (2) restricted and/or repetitive patterns of behaviour. Individuals with ASD can also demonstrate differences in cognitive abilities (ranging from very strong to under-developed), motor skills, speech-language skills, attentional capacity, self-help skills, and mental health. The term “spectrum” means that all individuals with ASD present differently, each with their own unique strengths and challenges. Therefore, the assessment of ASD is a complex process.

What are the benefits of having an ASD Assessment for my child/adolescent?

Why should I choose Clarity Kids for an ASD Assessment?

What does an
ASD Assessment look like?

At Clarity Kids we construct our assessment battery based on the specific needs of the individual being assessed. Assessment costs will range between $3,500 to $5,500 depending upon the number of team members included and number of assessment measures integrated into the battery.

How do I start this process?

Step 1

Contact Clarity Kids via telephone or complete an online form.

Step 2

Our administrative team will contact you within 1-2 business days to provide timeframes for assessment completion.

  • We will request results from a hearing exam or help you book a hearing assessment through Alberta Health Services or privately prior to the assessment
  • We will request an updated vision exam before completing the assessment

Step 3

A psychologist from Clarity will contact your family and complete an initial phone interview (approximately 20-30 minutes) to determine appropriateness of:

  • Assessment fit
  • Clinical team needed (psych + OT + SLP)
  • Discussion of assessment cost
  • Assignment of a case manager who will support your family throughout this assessment process and beyond

Step 4

You and your child/adolescent will arrive at the Clarity Kids office for the assessment day.

Step 5

Within 30 days of the assessment a debrief meeting will be scheduled (virtual or in person) in which we will share results, answer questions, and provide you with a detailed report.

Step 6

You may reach out to your case manager for an additional 1 hour meeting anytime within 1 year of the assessment. The purpose of this meeting may be any of the following:

  • Parent support
  • Questions
  • Review of IPP documentation
